Communication, communicating correctly and communicating frequently is so very important. The scripture this morning tells us that the relationship that Jesus had with God the father, was bases on his contact, communication with the father again and again.
As disciples we must keep in touch with Jesus again and again. That means taking the time out from the busyness of our lives to create time for prayer each day.
It is about setting up structure in our lives that prevents us from forgetting Jesus. Jesus speaks of two kinds of vines. Useless branches and fruitful branches.
Useless branches are branches that, either refuse to listen to Jesus at all, who listen, affirm Him with their words but do not follow up with actions, or those who accept Him as their Master but then live lives in contradiction to Him.
Fruitful branches are those that are in communication with Jesus, listen to Him, and follow with actions of compassion and mercy. Fruitful branches are those that “bring glory to God”; those individuals who by the example of their lives point to the existence of Jesus and a loving God.
The greatest glory of a Christian is that by our lives we can bring others to Jesus.
