Scripture: One Book at a Time

It is an epic story, the greatest ever told, and told "one book at a time." Each book makes it contribution to the narrative as God reveals God's self to us and his desire that all be saved.
Lesson 30: Daniel
Daniel
The Book of Daniel is often thought of as a prophetic book – and there are oracles and visions in the 2nd half of the book which describes the fate of those who resist the will of God. The first half of the book is more like wisdom literature in narrative form: how to be a faithful Jew is times of persecution and tribulation. What kind of book is it? Actually, it is a new type of book: apocalyptic literature which was popular between 200 BC and 100 AD. It was a type of “resistance literature” for encouragement to a people under sustained persecution. There’s a lot going on in the Book of Ezekiel
