St. Francis House Receives Major Grant

by Apr 25, 2022From the Pastor, Weekly-Email

April 25, 2022:  As we all know, finances have been constrained throughout the parish and community due in no small part to Covid-19. As such, the need for the assistance provided by our Outreach Ministry, St. Francis House, continues to grow. In January, a parishioner forwarded information on a grant opportunity to help with COVID-19 relief. The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William County was chosen by the Prince William County government to administer the $10,000,000 of federal American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) allotted to the county with grants ranging anywhere from $25,000 to $300,000 to non-profit organizations providing assistance to residents of Prince William County.

We are happy to announce that St. Francis of Assisi Parish was awarded $300,000 to continue and increase the assistance provided by St. Francis House! This one-time grant is allocated to be disbursed and spent over the course of the next two years and will help ensure our neighbors in need maintain vital utility (water, gas, electric, etc.) services.

A huge thank you to Cathy Holtzlander for spotting grant opportunity and sharing the information. Thank to Francia Salguero and Angelica Silva for their daily work to ensure Francis House can help as many families as possible and more now.

We are thankful to continue, and greatly increase our ability, to put our faith into action. In line with our Franciscan ideals of service to others and our responsibility as Catholic Christians to live the Gospel, Francis House is proud to administer this substantial extra funding!
