Did you know Prince William County is the most diverse county in VA and the 10th most diverse county in the U.S.? How diverse is PWC? It’s made up of 55,000 people of different races, ethnicities, genders, background, religions, and beliefs. In the mix is racism. There has never been a time in our lives when racism wasn’t part of the complex that makes up modern living. It is not new. Its implications are overt and highly covert. It may not be the top concern for your “today,” but it is ever there.
As Christians, what are we called to do? The first thing all Christians when faced with controversy or issues is to pray. Take a first step and join us in prayer.
The interfaith organization “Unity in The Community” is hosting the International Day of Prayer for Peace with the theme this year of “Healing Racism, Building Peace.” The gathering is September 18th at the Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge from 3:00 – 6:00 pm for a program of prayer, discussion, community, and refreshments. The Ferlazzo Building is located at 15941 Donald Curtis Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22191.
We all have a role to play in tackling racism and fostering peace. We need to take a first step in prayer and dialogue. You are invited to join our efforts to diminish racism with compassion and understanding.
We hope to see you on September 18th at 3:00 pm!
